Maui has many attractions
Maui is sun, surf, hula and leis. The cliché has a true core, all of that can be found here. But Maui has so so much more to offer: volcanoes, waterfalls, rainforest, boat tours, encounters with turtles, dolphins and whales (in the whale season), culinary highlights, art and culture. And the climate: not too hot and never cold. Of course, it does rain from time to time, on the north coast more often than in the south, but it is a warm rain, which usually passes quickly. The vegetation reacts with lush greens and an incredible variety of colorful flowers.

CULINARY
The Sansei restaurants are famous in Hawaii for a reason. Be sure to book in advance!
Delicious, cheap, within walking distance. All dishes also available to take away.
Just around the corner, friendly, cheap, good and plentiful. Beautiful terrace, especially recommended at sunset.
Excellent Indian food and an opportunity to dine outdoors (which is amazingly rare on Maui).
For the special occasion: not cheap, but great steaks.

ENJOYING NATUR
When traveling to Maui, Haleakala is part of the obligatory program. We strongly recommend a small hike into the crater, if your health allows it. Absolutely unique.
Very nice hike with great views of Kahului and the inaccessible interior of Western Maui.
It's a little tedious to get there, but Polipoli is a great hiking area with views of the lava fields in the South East and all the way to the Big Island.
Unique view of Kihei and an affectionately planted and created botanical garden.
This beach walk can be started directly at Kamaole III and leads to the luxury hotels of Wailea. Tip: take a small coffee break at the Shops of Wailea.
Our special recommendation for a day at the beach. Pack snorkel gear, food, water and beach chairs and have a great time.
THINgS TO DO
Very interesting aquarium. The giftshop is very well assorted and can be visited without entering the Ocean Center.
There are many boat tour providers on Maui. By booking here you also support the whale research and the preservation of the ecosystem of the islands.
Crowded by tourists or not: Lahaina is definitely worth a visit. And the highlight is the gigantic Banyan Tree in the center.
Our recommendation for clothes with the aloha feeling and low-prized souvenirs. We still say that even though our backpack was stolen there! Crime is not a big problem on Maui, but even in paradise you can find a few pickpockets.
